2012 NCS Senior Champs SC Summary

Below are the Facebook posts on Swim YSST for the 2012 NCS Short Course Senior Champs.

Congratulations to the YSST NCS Senior Champs team of David Glenn, Janie Kennedy, Samantha Merta, Jake Pierce, Rachel Ponti, Marinela Procopii, Maria Turcanu, and Sava Turcanu!! There were MANY great results for February. We are looking forward to some BIG swims by ALL YSST members in the upcoming season ending meets!!

Day 4 finals - It was a fun race to watch in the mile tonight. Sava and Benjamin Miller from MOR went head to head for over 15 minutes. At times it was like a chess match......move and counter move over and over again. Congrats to both for a great February swim. Benjamin finished in 15:41 and Sava finished in 15:43.

Day 4 prelims - Marinela goes 2 best times (100 Fr/200 IM). Jake goes 50.2 in the 100 Free (bt is 49.8). David drops 16 seconds in the mile going 16:51. Sava breaks the team record in the 200 back going 1:49.8. Janie (who went a bt in the 500 yesterday going 5:15.0 - Y cut 5:10.9) time trials the 500 and goes 5:08.9. Sava will swim the 200 back and mile tonight in finals.

Another very solid showing on Day 3 for YSST. Marinela achieved a new Y National cut in the 200 Breast. Janie was a best time in the 500. Jake broke the 4:40 barrier in the 500 going 4:39 and finished 7th. Sava set a team record in the 100 back in prelims going 51.9, then beat that mark in finals going 51.0 and finished 3rd. Sava won the 500 going 4:30. David and Rachel both went best non-shaved times in the 500.

More solid swims on day 2. Jake was 1:44.6 in the 200 Free (best is 1:44.5) and 55.0 in the 100 Fly (best is 54.9). Marinela was 1:01.5 in the 100 Fly (best is 1:01.4) and a season best by 8 seconds in the 400 IM going 4:44. David was 4:29 in the 400 IM (best is 4:28). As a very wise man told me today, right at best times now should bode very well at Y's in April.

Good start at NCS Senior Champs for an unrested, unshaved February meet. The 1000 Free was the only event tonight. Sava dropped 2 seconds going 9:23 and finished 4th. Jake dropped 11 seconds going 9:41 and finished 13th (ALSO A NEW Y NATIONAL CUT). Janie dropped 11 seconds going 10:46. David went 10:08 and Marinela went 11:04.
