Capital Classic Summary

YSST had 11 athletes compete at the 2012 YOTA Capital Classic.  It was a great meet for the team.  The summary is below.

10 New Team Records - Maria Turcanu (13/14 500 Free, 100 Breast, and 200 Breast), Emmaline Peterson (13/14 1650 Free), Marinela Procopii (Open 400 IM), and Sava Turcanu (Open 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 Fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM).  The 13/14 girls 500 Free record (5:14.33) was held by Marinela Procopii (12/17/2010).  Three girls beat that record at the meet - Emma Weisgerber (5:14.28), Emmaline Peterson (5:08.61), and Maria Turcanu (5:07.35).  This is the first time in team history that a team record has been broken THREE times at one meet.  The 13/14 girls 1650 Free record (17:48.46) was held by Eleanor Trefzger (3/10/2000).  Two girls beat that record at the meet - Maria Turcanu (17:39.42) and Emmaline Peterson (17:25.15).

32 YMCA National Qualifying Times - Five New (Maria Turcanu - 500 Free, 200 Breast, and 400 IM.  Emmaline Peterson - 500 Free and 1650 Free).

78 Lifetime Best Times - Marinela Procopii (10), Maria Turcanu (9), Jake Pierce (8), Sam Melnyk (7), Emma Weisgerber (6), Emmaline Peterson (6), Sava Turcanu (6), Marissa Taylor (5), Sophia Cherkez (5), Female Relays (5), David Glenn (4), Male Relays (4), and Maly Shores (3).
