New State Record and 14 Swims Under Team Records at NCS 14 & U Champs

YSST was very well represented at the 2014 North Carolina Swimming 14 & Under Short Course Championships. Congratulations to Sophia Cherkez, Ross Dant, Anna Durak, Lauren Ferner, Caitlin Hefner, Faith Hefner, Mia Macon, Emmaline Peterson, Stephan Procopii, Audrey Shores, Maly Shores, Kayanna Taylor, and Nina Turcanu for a great meet!!

YSST performances included a new state record, 14 swims under team records, 6 new YMCA National qualifying times, and 33 top 16 finishes.

New State Record - Emmaline Peterson (13-14 1650 Free - previous record was set in 1998).

Swims under team records - Emmaline Peterson (13-14 500 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Fly, 400 IM, Open 500 Free, 1650 Free, and 400 IM). Anna Durak (13-14 100 Fly, 200 Fly, 400 IM, and Open 200 Fly).  Sophia Cherkez (13-14 200 Fly, 400 IM, and Open 400 IM).

New YMCA National qualifying times - Sophia Cherkez (200 Fly). Anna Durak (1650 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Fly, and 400 IM).  Maly Shores (500 Free). 

Top 16 finishes - Sophia Cherkez (4th - 500 Free, 5th - 400 IM, 6th - 1000 Free and 1650 Free, 7th - 200 IM, 11th - 200 Fly, 12th - 100 Fly, 14th - 200 Free).  Ross Dant (6th - 1650 Free, 11th - 1000 Free, and 16th - 200 Back).  Anna Durak (3rd - 1000 Free and 1650 Free, 4th - 200 Fly, 5th - 500 Free, 6th - 200 Free, 100 Fly, and 400 IM, 12th - 100 Free).  Faith Hefner (8th - 1650 Free).  Emmaline Peterson (1st - 500 Free, 1000 Free, and 1650 Free, 2nd - 400 IM, 5th - 200 Free, 9th - 200 Back, and 10th - 200 Fly).  Maly Shores (9th - 500 Free, 11th - 200 Free, 13th - 1650 Free, and 14th - 1000 Free).  Nina Turcanu (7th - 100 Breast and 8th - 500 Free).
