Congratulations to the YSST 2012 YMCA National Long Course team of Jessica Burgess, David Glenn, Sam Melnyk, Emmaline Peterson, Jake Pierce, Marinela Procopii, Tanner Stirewalt, Maria Turcanu, Sava Turcanu, and Emma Wesigerber for their accomplishments in Atlanta. Collectively, they achieved 30 new best times, 9 top 30 finishes (6 top ten), and 2 YMCA National titles. 117 teams attended the meet and the YSST men finished 19th. The season ending break will be the weeks of July 30th and August 6th. Practices will resume the week of August 13th on the afternoon (Short Course) schedule. Senior - Monday-Friday 3:30-5:30 pm (Saturdays, Dryland, and Mornings will be added later) Gold - Monday-Friday 3:30-5:30 pm Silver Plus - Monday-Thursday 5:30-7:00 pm Silver - Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 4:00-5:30 pm Bronze - Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 5:30-6:30 pm
Five team records were set at the last two meets. At the 2012 Upper Southeast Regional YMCA Long Course Championships, Maria Turcanu set new records in the 13-14 female 100 and 200 Breast, and Marinela Procopii set a new record in the Open female 200 Breast. At the 2012 North Carolina Swimming 14 & Under Championships, Sophia Cherkez set a new record in the 11-12 female 400 IM, and Maria Turcanu set a new record in the 13-14 female 400 Free.
