The 2010 Pier-2-Pier in Wilmington, NC will be on September 18th. Craig Kennedy and Rachael LeCLair have offered transportation to those interested. THANKS Craig and Rachael!!! This event is open to swimmers 11 and older. Sign up is through the event website (NOT through YSST).
The traditional afternoon practice schedule for the short course season for YSST begins on Monday, August 23rd. Click here to view the schedule.
Special thanks to coaches Shannon and Laura for their work with YSST. Shannon has accepted a teaching position in High Point, NC. Laura has taken on volleyball coaching and teaching school in Hickory. Thanks to both for ALL of their efforts for YSST.
Sava Turcanu and Graham Williams respresented YSST at the USA Swimming Junior National Championships in Irvine, CA on 8/9-13/2010. Sava had best times in the 100, 200, 400, and 800 Freestyle events. Graham had best times in the 100 and 200 Free. Graham also set a new team record in the Open 200 Free going 1:58.2. The team records have been updated. Congratulations to both for their accomplishments!!
Welcome Coach Chris Wells to the YSST staff. Chris will be the Silver group coach. He swam in high school at East Burke, and also swam for the Valdese Aquatic Club. Chris also works in the aquatics department at the Y as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
Practices start back on Monday (8-16-10) on the morning schedule from the summer. For next week ONLY, silver plus will practice with gold. Therefore, the schedule will be Senior, Gold, and Silver Plus from 7-9 am on Monday through Friday. Silver from 7-8:30 am on Monday through Thursday, and Bronze from 9-10 am on Monday through Thursday. We will move to the traditional short course schedule in the afternoons on Monday, 8-23-10.
The YSST National team of Sava Turcanu, Graham Williams, Jake Pierce, Joseph Lackey, Cory Spencer, and Marinela Procopii competed at the 2010 YMCA Long Course National Championships in College Park, MD the week of July 25th. The YSST men finished 18th at the meet. Graham Williams achieved the first YMCA National title in the history of the team in the 1500 Free. Top 16 finishes were Graham (1st - 1500 Free, 2nd - 800 Free, 3rd - 400 Free, and 10th - 200 Free) and Sava (6th - 1500 Free,...
The end of season break will be the weeks of August 2nd and August 9th. The last practice prior to the break will be Friday, July 30th. Practices will resume the week of August 16th on the summer MORNING schedule. Practices will move to the traditional afternoon Short Course schedule on Monday, August 23rd.
