USA Swimming is running a bi-weeky report on the mental aspects of swimming, the ABC's.  Article one is "A is for Anxiety" , article two is "B is for buliding your mindset" , and article three is "C is for Confidence."  It is good short reading for all YSST members going into every swim meet and practice! 

The City of Hickory's Public Art Commission's "Art on the Bench" Phase II project will unveil 20 new benches this weekend.  Chris Peterson submitted a plan and designed a bench promoting YSST which was selected for the project.  The benches will be displayed this Saturday (5/2/09) from 10 am - 3 pm on the lawn of the Hickory Museum of Art.  The goal of the program is to integrate public art into the public space and to help create a visual sense of the community.  Special thanks to Chris!!

North Carolina Swimming compiles a top ten list for the season for all ages and events.  For the 2008-2009 Short Course season, YSST had 39 swims make the list with eight number one rankings.  Congratulations to Emma Weisgerber, Cory Spencer, Nicholas Lee, Katherine Glenn, Sava Turcanu, and Graham Williams for making the list.  Click here to view the report.

Congratulations to Danny Aberle, Katherine Glenn, Sava Turcanu, and Graham Williams for a great meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the 2009 YMCA Short Course National Championships.  As a group, they achieved 15 new lifetime best times.  8 team records were broken at the meet: Sava Turcanu - 13-14 500 Free, 13-14 and Senior 200 Fly Katherine Glenn - Senior 1000 and 1650 Free Graham Williams - Senior 500, 1000, and 1650 Free There were 1,675 athletes representing 231 teams from across the country at the meet.  YSST had 5...

Congratulations to Janie Kennedy, David Glenn, Emma Weisgerber, Sophia Cherkez, Maria Turcanu, Sava Turcanu, Nicholas Lee, and Cory Spencer for a great showing at the North Carolina Swimming 14 & Under Short Course Championships.  Cory, Maria, Nicholas, and Sava all finished in the top 16 in their age group in at least one event.  As a group, they achieved 29 new best times.  Sava won state titles in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly, and also finished second in five events.  Sava also broke 7 team records at the meet.  Full...
