Congratulations to Janie Kennedy, David Glenn, Emma Weisgerber, Sophia Cherkez, Maria Turcanu, Sava Turcanu, Nicholas Lee, and Cory Spencer for a great showing at the North Carolina Swimming 14 & Under Short Course Championships. Cory, Maria, Nicholas, and Sava all finished in the top 16 in their age group in at least one event. As a group, they achieved 29 new best times. The YSST Short Course Yards team records have been updated. Graham Williams set a new standard in the Open 1000 yard freestyle at the North Carolina Swimming Short Course Senior Championships.
Rachael LeClair and Glenn Peterson joined the YSST Coaching Staff in January 2009. Rachael was a NCAA Div III National Champion while swimming at Emory. Glenn is the former Head Coach of YSST (then known as HSST). He swam at UNC-Wilmington and had a long and successful coaching career before leaving swimming for the corporate world. He returns to coaching after a 12 year break. Bios and pictures will be added to the Coaching Staff page soon.

Results from the 2009 Y States have been posted on the Meet Schedule page. YSST finished 3rd overall behind the YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA) and the Chapel Hill YMCA (CHY). YSST finished 1st in the small team category. Katherine Glenn (15-18 girls) and Nicholas Lee (11-12 boys) won the High Point Awards for their age groups. Scores from the meet are on the last page of the results.
The YSST Short Course Yards team records have been updated. Sava Turcanu broke his own team record in the 13-14 boys 200 Individual Medley at the 2009 Y-States Champs.
