Congratulations to the 38 YSST swimmers that competed at Y-States this weekend. 15 teams attended the meet. YSST was 3rd overall and 1st in the small team category. Four team records were broken during the 2012 Long Course season - Sava Turcanu (17 yr old male), Maria Turcanu (13 yr old female), Marinela Procopii (16 yr old female), and Sophia Cherkez (12 yr old female). A new twist for 2013 is a virtual set challenge with GSA, NSS, and YSST. Once a week, each team will complete the set for the week with data compiled showing results for all three teams. Eight YSST swimmers have been selected to attend the North Carolina Swimming IMX Camp in Greensboro on January 5-6. This camp brings together the top IMX performers in North Carolina for the 11, 12, and 13 year old age groups for a weekend of training and education. Congratulations to Sophia Cherkez, Ross Dant, Anna Durak, Faith Hefner, Emmaline Peterson, Maly Shores, Marissa Taylor, and Maria Turcanu for achieving this opportunity!!
YSST had 11 athletes compete at the 2012 YOTA Capital Classic. It was a great meet for the team. The summary is below. 10 New Team Records - Maria Turcanu (13/14 500 Free, 100 Breast, and 200 Breast), Emmaline Peterson (13/14 1650 Free), Marinela Procopii (Open 400 IM), and Sava Turcanu (Open 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 Fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM).
